Dr. Arora is a co-founder and a shareholder in SantosHuman, Inc., and he serves as the Chief Financial Officer. He is an international expert in the fields of optimization, numerical analysis, and real-time implementation. He is the F. Wendell Miller Distinguished Professor of Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Iowa, and is the Associate Director of the Virtual Soldier Research program. He teaches Civil and Mechanical Engineering. His main area of research is optimization of complex engineering systems. He has developed state of the art optimization algorithms with applications to structural and mechanical systems subjected to static and dynamic loads. He has worked on optimal control of nonlinear systems, and more recently on optimization-based simulation of human motion. He is the chief architect of predictive dynamics capabilities in Santos. He has published a variety of text books on optimization, and has published more than 180 journal articles and more that 150 conference papers. He is on the editorial board of several technical journals and is the winner of number of awards, including the distinguished service certificate for the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Excellence in Research Award in the College of Engineering, University of Iowa.

Dr. Abdel-Malek is a co-founder and a shareholder in SantosHuman, Inc. Along with Jasbir Arora, his overall responsibilities are to conduct research for product improvement and development. Karim is a successful entrepreneur and an expert in technology transfer, with substantial executive experience running large research centers and growing companies. He is the founder of Cyber-Anatomy and VizTek, companies involved in simulating human anatomy, in virtual reality, and in a variety of digital solutions.

Karim is a Professor of Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Iowa; he is the founder and director of the Virtual Soldier Research program; and he is the director of the Center for Computer Aided Design (CCAD). Karim’s research focuses real-time simulation, kinematics and dynamics, robotics, human simulation, and virtual reality. He is internationally recognized for his work on swept volumes, manipulator kinematics, and digital human motion prediction.

Mr. Beck is a co-founder and a principle shareholder in SantosHuman, Inc. He has been instrumental in the ongoing development of the Santos technology since its beginning at the University of Iowa’s Virtual Soldier Research Program in 2003. Steve took over management of strategic initiatives, business development, sales, and product development in late 2011. Since then, he has revitalized SantosHuman, Inc. with a new and growing client list including some of the World’s most recognizable US Global companies, over 150 licensed world-wide users of the Santos® software, and strong and increasing revenues.

With previous careers as a professional musician and helicopter mechanic, Steve began his technical career in 1987 as a consultant at the University of Iowa’s Image Analysis Facility - an intellectual resource for multi-dimensional data visualization. In 2003 Steve was enlisted by the Director of a new research group to incorporate diverse, cutting-edge, multidisciplinary digital human modeling and simulation research into a single, sustainable software environment. This group became the University of Iowa Virtual Soldier Research (VSR) group. In 2006 Steve accepted an additional challenge as Research & Development Project Manager for the Center for Computer-Aided Design (CCAD), a World-Class modeling and Simulation Center within the University of Iowa’s College of Engineering. As R&D Director Steve directed multiple, ongoing, interdepartmental efforts; provided leadership on efforts to identify opportunities to transfer CCAD research product to private and government sectors; and served as liaison between the University of Iowa and the United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR), the United States Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Command (NSRDEC), and the United States Navy Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

Dr. Marler is a co-founder and a shareholder in SantosHuman, Inc., and he serves as the Chief Research Officer. His overall responsibilities include aiding in software development plans, program management, and coordination research efforts at VSR. He works closely with the president on project delivery and on understanding clients’ needs in order to define the best scope of work for a particular project.

Tim is an associate research scientist at the University of Iowa’s Center for Computer-Aided Design, assistant director at the Virtual Soldier Research (VSR) Program, and co-director of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMTech) Program. He is a licensed professional engineer with technical expertise I the areas of R&D management, optimization, human modeling, computational decision-making, and model-based manufacturing. He has published two books and more than 80 papers in these areas. Prior to joining the University of Iowa, Tim held industry positions as a manufacturing engineer, software engineer, and product design engineer.

Fred Streicher is the Marketing and PR consultant for SHI. He is responsible for achieving a distinctive College identity among constituencies at the state, national, and international level, and for engaging the College’s unique resources in education and research to the public – including corporations, government agencies, and alumni. Before joining The University, he served as vice president - advertising and public relations at Amana Refrigeration, Inc., and held advertising and public relations management positions for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He also has served as a consultant in marketing, advertising, and public relations strategies.

A native of Wisconsin, he is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Ms. Roemig is the Product Development Lead at SantosHuman Inc., and as such provides extensive software expertise. Victoria is an expert with the Santos software and works closely with SHI customers to solve complex digital human modeling problems, and to train Santos users. Victoria is a Civil Engineer, with a focus on structural design and digital human modeling. She has worked in a variety of capacities in the construction industry and is proficient with a variety CAD and analysis software systems.
