Capturing Motion: Santos™ Motion Capture
Motion Capture is the process of recording a live motion event and translating it into usable mathematical terms by tracking a number of key points in space over time and combining them to obtain single 3D representation of the performance. There are numerous productive ways to apply this technology to facilitate the VSR effort.
This data can be forwarded to a mass-spring model to fi nd the resulting forces. The resulting forces and the range of angles for each joint can be used by other VSR groups in their analyses.
An advanced motion capture facility at the VSR lab is used to validate motion prediction by Santos™ and to interact with Santos™ in real-time simulation.
