Communicating with Santos™: Giving Santos™ interacting skills
Using advanced technologies developed at VSR that are based on infrared motion capture, it is possible to identify gestures provided to Santos™ by the real human. The technology is based on segmented and 3D voxel representations of the human body. It is anticipated that gesture communications will become one of the most effective tools for communication withSantos™.
Motion capture (also known as MoCap) is used to drive Santos™ in real-time by replicating the motion of a user. In this mode of operation, Santos's™ motion simply replicates that of the user allowing the user to interact with the virtual world, moving objects, examining assemblies, and performing maintenance operations. Furthermore, a user wearing the MoCap tasks that require two individuals.
A human hand touches a virtual wall or seeks to turn a virtual knob; it experiences vibrations that at times severely spoil the sensory experience.
