Through its Santos® University Program, institutions of higher education located worldwide continue to partner with SantosHuman, Inc. (SHI), a successful spin-out company that has commercialized technology developed at the University of Iowa College of Engineering.

The Santos® University Program provides US colleges and universities with free access to Santos® technologies for educational and non-commercial research efforts.

Higher institutions now on board include University of California-Berkeley, Brock University, Nipissing University, Oregon State University, Politecnico di Milano, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Universidad de Los Andes, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and University of Waterloo.

Santos® technologies provide extensive digital human modeling tools designed to simulate all aspects of human physical behavior and performance.  Available through the Santos® Institute, the Santos® University Program provides students, educators, and researchers with access to state of the art, optimization-based, first principles approaches to predicting human physical behavior and performance without the need for prerecorded data.  This approach uniquely allows human-centric issues to be included in optimization-driven design processes.

The Santos® University Program is designed to complement and/or foster projects, courses, and curricula related to industrial design, computer science, digital human modeling, simulation, engineering, occupational health and safety, ergonomics, human factors, human systems integration, objective analysis and motion capture, biomechanics, and robotics.

Founded in 2008, SantosHuman Inc. (SHI) provides virtual human-in-the-loop performance simulation solutions to some of the most recognizable global companies in the world.  Its technology is based on basic and applied research conducted at the University of Iowa Center for Computer-Aided Design's Virtual Soldier Research program that continues since 2003. The company serves clients in industries spanning heavy construction, aerospace, automotive, lawn and garden, engineering, agriculture, consumer goods, and defense.
